Hello from Charlotte…

Hey y’all… As of today, our cross-country trip has ended. And boy, did we close it out in style! We spent a long weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where we attended a bunch of races and race-related events. Fisher’s Uncle Steve helped us get “backstage passes” so we could hang out in the garage area, where we met a bunch of drivers (like 25!). The rain delayed some of the festivities, but the races were lots of fun and exciting…even though our favorite driver (Dale Jr) didn’t win. Bummer. But we did get to meet him, which was awesome!! We were lucky enough to get some last-minute tickets at the NASCAR Hall of Fame to see the unveiling of Hendrick Motorsports’ new race cars for 2018. We met veteran drivers Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, along with newcomers Chase Elliot and Alex Bowman. But the highlight was meeting Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (see pic). He’s such a nice guy! Unfortunately, he’s retiring after this season. I told him we would really miss him and he said, “Oh…I’ll  still be around” Yay!!

Well, that’s it. We’re back home and we’re gonna stay for a while. Whew. Traveling is wonderful, but being home is nice, too. Stay tuned for my re-cap… we learned a lot on our trip – some good things, some not-so-good things – and I’m looking forward to sharing our “lessons learned” with everybody. 🙂

One more thing… I’ll be playing this Saturday, Oct 14 at Village Inn & Pub, 8:30-11:30pm. My first official, post-travel, full-length gig. Come see me!

Love & peace, KP

Hello from Waycross…

Hey there… So it looks like I’ll be adding a few more stops to our trip. 🙂 Yes… we came home for a couple of weeks, but we kept the RV packed up and headed over to Waycross for the Gram Parsons Festival. As always, we had a great time! Love to hear all the versions of Gram tunes…and I got a chance to bring out my inner Emmylou Harris. Love her!!  Also fun to catch up with some of my favorite bands like Pine Box Dwellers and discover new talent like singer-fiddle player, Michalan Boney. She’s gonna be a star, y’all! The headliners, Firefall and the Kentucky Headhunters put on awesome shows. There were lots of cool vendors there this year…picked up some adorable dresses. And Fisher really enjoyed the refreshments.

Thanks so much to Dave Griffin for everything you do to put on the Fest…and for inviting me to play. You’re the best!

Next stop: Charlotte Motor Speedway. 5 days of racing fun…the perfect (and appropriate) way to end our trip. We started in Daytona and will close it out in Charlotte….bookended by NASCAR races. Fisher’s lovin’ it!

Peace y’all, KP

P.S. One more pic… check out the new boots. Cool!
