About Kellie

Kellie is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/entertainer from St. Simons Island, GA. At the age of 12, she was playing guitar and singing hillbilly songs with her mother, harmonizing on tunes by Hank Williams, Sr. By the time she was in high school, Kellie was writing songs and playing at local parties and school talent shows. Her pleasing alto singing style, along with her passionate delivery, quickly caught on with her audiences.

After high school, Kellie earned an MBA from Florida State University. While in college, she joined an alternative rock band, Shatterposts, and toured the Southeast in support of their critically acclaimed CD. In the era of “grunge” music, their trendy, crunch-pop style garnered a respectable regional following and a fair amount of success on the college radio circuit.

After moving back home in the mid-90s, Kellie found a kindred musical spirit in local singer/songwriter Tim Haynes. They formed a harmonious union that resulted in many inspired performances including an appearance at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta. Their band, “HaynesParr” released a CD of mostly original songs in the Spring of 2001. Recorded in Nashville, “New World” featured a high-powered group of music-city players and was produced by Neil Young band member and producer, Ben Keith.

In 2012, Kellie launched a record label and production company called PeaceFish Productions, Inc. The venture encompasses all of her musical projects including live performances and events, as well as the 2012 release of her CD “Wish” and the 2016 release of her solo acoustic album of original songs,  “Best I Can”.

Kellie’s compositions draw on her childhood memories growing up on the coast of Georgia, as well as her adventures with romance (positive and negative) and especially, her experiences as a mother. All of these influences result in a passionate country-inspired, Americana style with lyrics that are honest, heartfelt and very often humorous. Complimented by her powerful voice, her songs candidly reveal situations in her life that are familiar to almost everyone. Kellie’s love for playing is apparent in her recordings as well as her energetic live performances.

Most recently in 2020, Kellie formed a high-energy, vintage-rock, alt-country, rockabilly-inspired trio called Kellie & the Kruze-o-matics. Their debut album was released on September 4, 2022. Click HERE to download or order the CD!

When not performing or writing songs, Kellie can be found hanging out with her teenage son, discussing music and politics… and solving the world’s problems.

“Kellie is very appealing on-stage. She’s really good at engaging the audience. She’s obviously having a good time in front of the lights and she pulls everyone in with her enthusiasm.”

“Bringing to mind the acoustic resurgence of the late 1980s and early 1990s, singer-songwriter Kellie Parr combines heart-on-her-sleeve raw, confessional lyrics with no frills earthy folk rock in a winning combo that has garnered her a faithful following both locally and regionally. -Cyle Lewis, Golden Isles Magazine

“In the tradition of troubadours before her, Parr not only sings about love and loss, but speaks out musically on issues that are important to her, particularly the environment and social justice. It seems she was destined to do exactly what she’s doing.” – Mary Starr, Coastal Illustrated

“Parr offers unapologetic honesty and rawness of emotion in her lyrics… Her vocals and straightforward songs are reminiscent of Shawn Colvin.”
