Hope y’all can join me for some music this weekend! Saturday, November 12, I’ll be playing with Lee O’Neal at Ember / Mas Lounge, 7-10pm. It’s a very cool place… it’s a lounge! Sunday, November 13, Kellie & the Kruze-o-matics will be playing a set for the Brunswick Porchfest at 1027 Union Street, 3-4pm. You never know when an idea for a song is gonna hit you. This one started with a message from my good friend, Uncle Dave Griffin, when he reminded me to bring “my man” along to the next Gram Parsons Fest. I thought to myself “my man ain’t my man no more!” (story of my life) which sounded like a good first line for a song. So good, that I repeat it at the end… a little trick I picked up from my fave, John Prine. In between, I use a bunch of bluegrass terminology/imagery to tell the story and deal with my anger and sadness (hence, bluegrass blue) about my man walkin’ out on me. Do I go a bit too far (murder ballad, really?) or is it all in jest? Click HERE to find out. And listen for the acoustic lead guitar stylings of Marc Andress… he’s awesome on this track!

Hope y’all can join us over on beautiful Jekyll Island for the always-yummy, always-fun Shrimp & Grits Festival! The fest is a 3-day event (Nov 4-6) in the historic district and features awesome food, artists market, kids’ zone, a craft brew fest and of course, live music! I’m playing 2 sets on Saturday, Nov 5. First, I’ll be rockin’ with Kellie & the Kruze-o-matics on the Riverfront stage, 11:50am-1:20pm. Then I’ll head over to the Craft Brew stage for a solo set, 4:15-5:45pm. Be aware the traffic can be awful on the Jekyll causeway, so give yourself some extra time to get there. Hope to see you soon!
