Happy Birthday, Jimmy!

In honor of former President Jimmy Carter’s 99th birthday, my friends Tim & Sarah Williams and I wrote a new original song for THE rock-n-roll President… appropriately named, “Jimmy”. I’ve been a huge fan ever since his motorcade stopped at my school in Brunswick, GA when I was 10 years old. He shook every kid’s hand that day! What an awesome person and inspiration for everyone. Our song/video was featured at the Carter Center over the weekend and was even played on GPB news. How cool is that?? Also, click HERE for an interview that Tim & Sarah did with Atlanta News First. It’s so exciting to be a part of the celebrations honoring Jimmy!

Music this weekend…

Hope to see y’all out and about this weekend! I’ll be playing solo at Sago at Sea Palms this Friday, September 29, 7-9pm. And I’ll be rockin’ with Kellie & the Kruze-o-matics behind the magic fence at Captain Stan’s Smokehouse this Saturday, September 30, 6:30-10pm. Looks like the weather is gonna be beautiful (temps in the 70s-80s… heck yeah!), so come sit outside and have dinner with me. See you soon!

AmericanaFest…

AMERICANA FEST!! I think I love you! Wow, y’all. Finally got back from Nashville and man, am I tired… and inspired! Panels and performances, all day for 4 1/2 days straight. Met some of the coolest people ever – Deke Dickerson (check out his book “Sixteen Tons – The Merle Travis Story… it’s really good and so fascinating), Jesse Dayton, and the incomparable, Mojo Nixon (Mojo Nixon World Empire). Also, got the chance to catch up with my friend and Gramily sister, Donna Frost. Highlights were the awards show at the Ryman with my good friend Amy Goodwin (so many amazing performers!), Hank Williams’ 100th birthday tribute show, the Outlaw Country (SiriusXM) party at Robert’s Western World and guitar shopping (well, looking) at Carter Vintage Guitars with Deke. YAY! Can’t wait to go back next year!
