Yellowstone…wow…

Not much to say about our trip across Montana and to Yellowstone National Park. Just….WOW! We live in a beautiful country. We spent 2 days exploring the park…I really think we needed at least 2 more to see all the wonders of that magical place! This first pic is from the top of the Lower Yellowstone Falls, close to sunset. Stunning.

This next picture was taken in front of the Lower Falls:

We also enjoyed exploring the thermal features of the park. This picture was taken near the Excelsior Geyser Crater (love my sunset shots):

No trip to Yellowstone is complete without a visit to their most famous geologic feature… ‘Old Faithful’. See video below for the spectacular show (and please pardon the commentary…and cutting away at the best part!). I think a trip to Yellowstone should be on everyone’s bucket list. Even though it was fairly crowded and the roads were terrible in spots (Ugh!), it was a truly amazing experience.

Next stop… more Wyoming for bluegrass music camp & fest (Fun!!) and the ECLIPSE in the path of totality…y’all be careful out there tomorrow and don’t forget your glasses!

Peace & more peace, KP

Hello from Washington…and Canada…

Hey everybody! We just spent a week in the great state of Washington. Our first stop was Seattle (love that city!) where we had the most delicious sushi down near the Public Market area and tried some yummy, local wines… and of course, coffee! Fisher loved visiting the Seahawks stadium and I enjoyed my visit to the Seattle Sound Temple, where I purchased 2 lovely crystal singing bowls. They sound so beautiful! We also took the ferry over to Victoria, B.C., Canada (see pic…hanging out with some of the locals), and spent a day exploring the gorgeous city. Check out the pic for the nighttime view… the lights around the Parliament Buildings, marinas and hotels were stunning.

In Anacortes, WA, we were fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. Our campground was hosting a Native American “canoe journey”, where several local tribes were reenacting a canoe voyage done by their ancestors many years ago. They used replicas of the original boats. Check this one out…cool!!

Then, we did our own much shorter “kayak journey” at Deception Pass State Park. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and the kelp forests were wild! Fisher had a blast “fishing” for kelp…it was catch and release, of course.

Next stop… Montana and Yellowstone…the oldest National Park in the USA. Yay!!

Love & peace, KP

Hello from Oregon…

Hi y’all… Well, I think Oregon has to be one of the most beautiful states we’ve visited so far. We decided to head inland (the coast is amazing, but after traveling up the coast of California, we thought a change of scenery would be nice) and visit the towns of Bend, Hood River and, of course, Portland. Bend was really cool…we paddleboarded down the Deschutes River and had a blast at their downtown music fest. Hood River was totally awesome with the hundreds (no exaggeration!) of windsurfers and kiteboarders competing for space on the Columbia River. Wow…I could watch them for hours!! We paddleboarded there as well, and took a trip over to Trillium Lake near Mount Hood and went kayaking (see pic). I think Hood River is probably my favorite town so far. I could easily live there… windsurf and paddle all day, and play music all night. Well… not planning on moving just yet. 🙂

Next up was Portland, along with a visit to Brooks Winery. If you haven’t seen it already, you should check out “American Wine Story”. It’s a documentary about the Oregon wine industry and focuses on Brooks Winery and founder Jimmy Brooks. He passed away several years ago, but his legacy lives on in his incredible wines. I saw the film last year and was looking forward to visiting and, of course, tasting! We really enjoyed being there… such a warm and welcoming place. Here’s Fisher admiring the view from the tasting deck…

Next stop… Washington and Seattle! Coffee and music, 2 of my favorite things.

Peace, KP
