Hello from New Mexico…

Hey y’all… We’ve just finished up 2 wonderful weeks in northern New Mexico. I’ve never seen so many amazing art galleries and jewelry stores! Our first stop was Santa Fe, where we visited several museums (the Museum of International Folk Art and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum were awesome!) and ate a TON of New-Mexican food…yum!! We did some hiking at Bandelier National Monument (cool petroglyphs and cave dwellings!) and took the train to Albuquerque where we visited my friend, Jon Webb and…of course it had to be done… went to several of the “Breaking Bad” filming locations… I even bought some of the “blue” stuff (BB fans will appreciate that!).

Next up was Taos…wow, what a gorgeous place! Of course you know about my wild-west, saloon gig at Laguna Vista Lodge in Eagle Nest (so much fun…people were dancing and singing along…yay!), but the highlight according to Fisher was our llama hike…yes, LLAMAs! We hiked down into the Rio Grande River Gorge and back out again (ugh…altitude!) with the help of our sweet, furry friend, Bucky (see pic). Such a blast! If you’re ever in the area, check out Wild Earth Llama Adventures. They do a fantastic job…it’s a day we’ll always remember.

Our last adventure in Taos was a visit to Ghost Ranch where Georgia O’Keeffe lived and painted some of her most beautiful works. I can see why she was so inspired by the place…the mountains and colors are absolutely beautiful. We also visited with Ghost Ranch volunteer, friend and fellow Georgian, Rosemary Kaszans…so cool to see someone from home…especially when you’re starting to get a little homesick. 🙁 Well, anyway…

Next up – COLORADO…Rocky Mountain high! Woohoo!

Love & Peace, KP

P.S. I just joined Instagram! So if you wanna see more of our vacation pics, check out kellieparrmusic. I’m posting them in order, so I’m still playing catch up, but I should have all of my posts in sync very soon. And email me at [email protected] if you have travel suggestions or just wanna say “Hi”. 🙂

Music this weekend…

Yes!! That’s right… I can finally do a Music post! If y’all happen to be in the Taos, NM area this weekend, I’ll be playing Sunday, April16 at the Saloon (see pic below) at Laguna Vista Lodge in Eagle Nest. They’re having an Easter potluck dinner starting around 2pm, and I’ll be starting around 3pm. The historic Saloon is so cool…complete with swinging doors…and it dates back to 1898. It’s gonna be a great afternoon with lots of good food, fellowship and of course, music! Email me at [email protected] for more info. Or click on the links above to check out the Saloon and Lodge…really a great place to experience the old west. Yippee Ki-Yay!

Peace y’all, KP

Hello from…where the heck are we?

Hey everybody… we’ve covered a lot of ground in the last 2 weeks! We started out in Texas, headed north into New Mexico, then back east to the Texas panhandle. As you can see, I met up with my new boyfriend in Roswell…he’s kinda odd looking, but he rides a Harley so he can’t be all bad! We had a great time mingling with the aliens and visting the UFO Museum and Research Center. As Mulder from the X-Files would say, “I WANT TO BELIEVE”. Hmmm…maybe…

Before Roswell, we visited Carlsbad Caverns. Wow! I’ve never seen anything quite like it. At 750 feet below ground, you’ll find the most amazing cave formations…stalactites and -mites, columns, soda straws and curtains… absolutely other-worldly. We did a guided tour of the “King’s Palace” – appropriately named – and walked all around the “Big Room”. We also hiked down into the caverns from the “Natural Entrance” (see pic). Stunning, absolutely stunning.

Our last stop on this leg of the trip was Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo, TX….another beautiful, natural scene. We stayed at the campground at the bottom of the canyon. Yikes!! Driving a 31′ box-on-wheels down a narrow, winding road was a bit scary but we made it down and back up again. Whew. We learned a lot about the history of the area and enjoyed a hike along the canyon floor. We also visited my Aunt Denise and Uncle Paul in Amarillo for a yummy dinner (thanks Paul!!) and a fun jam session (my Aunt is a brilliant musician – classical pianist and music professor). It was a lot of driving around in crazy winds and intimidating terrain but we had a fun time. Next stop…northern New Mexico…Santa Fe and Taos.

Take care y’all, KP
