It’s that time again!! After 2 years of virtual festivals, the 25th Annual Gram Parsons Guitar Pull & Tribute Festival will be live and in-person this weekend (Oct 13 – 15) at the Okefenokee Fairgrounds in Waycross, GA. Woohoo! The event gets rollin’ with “Uncle Dave’s Waycross Stagecoach” on Thursday night at 7pm, continues on Friday at 5pm, and goes from 2pm until past midnight on Saturday. Charlie Starr & Benji Shanks from Blackberry Smoke are the headliners on Friday and Ian Dunlop & the Retreads will be headlining on Saturday. Kellie & the Kruze-o-matics’ set is at 2:55pm on Saturday… we’ll be playing lots of Gram songs, Emmylou Harris tunes and a special tribute to Loretta Lynn. It’s gonna be awesome! Hey y’all… So we got some sad news this week that Loretta Lynn passed away. She gave us so many amazing, authentically-country songs over the years… she’ll always be with us. I like to think she and Patsy Cline are hanging out somewhere, laughin’ and harmonizin’ (like in this illustration from a video of “I Fall to Pieces” that Loretta released 2 years ago).  Looking back, I realize how much of an inspiration these two women have been to me, both as a performer and a songwriter. Stay tuned for my tribute to Loretta Lynn… if she wrote it, you know it’s gonna be a fun song!

No gigs this weekend, but I’m REALLY looking forward to next weekend. I’ll be heading over to Waycross, GA for the 25th Annual Gram Parsons Guitar Pull & Tribute Festival. Hope everyone is doing OK out there dealing with this monster of a hurricane! My heart goes out to our friends in southwest Florida… sending lots of love to all of you. Looks like coastal Georgia will be spared this time… just some wind and rain. So yes, there will be music this weekend! Kellie & the Kruze-o-matics will be playing at Village Inn & Pub this Friday, September 30, 8:30-11:30pm. We were also sheduled to play this Saturday, 6-9pm for the Brunswick Music District show in Jekyll Square (next to Tipsy’s) but that show was cancelled. The Saturday weather forcast is looking gorgeous, so I’m hoping they will decide to un-cancel (fingers crossed)… I’ll let you know if that happens. Otherwise, I’m gonna take the day off and go sit on the beach, sip an adult beverage, maybe do a little paddleboarding… in the calm after the storm. Be safe out there y’all!
